Many health experts tout the importance of early detection in combating illness. But for people who don’t have access to healthcare, revealing checkups are often out of reach. This September, however, everyone in Stark County, Ohio will have access to valuable health screenings at the Community Health and Wellness Fair. Blood pressure screenings, BMI screenings, and more will be available to people from Canton, Ohio; North Canton, Ohio; Massillon, Ohio; and surrounding areas. And it’s all free!
Two local companies, iShopStark and Ohio Pools and Spas, are teaming up with Aultman Hospital to make the free health and wellness fair happen. Other Stark County businesses including Boggs Chiropractic, Grahame’s Massotherapy, Summer’s Fitness, Natural Approach to Health, and DMC Martial Arts Academy are also donating their time, resources, and expertise. In addition to the health screenings, 15-minute health talks, chair massages, fitness consultations, holistic remedies, and self defense demonstrations will be available for members of the community.
Residents of Canton, North Canton, and Massillon can expect to have their health questions answered at the health and wellness fair. People with a family history of hypertension are encouraged to take advantage of the blood pressure screenings. And people of all ages can benefit from the BMI screenings, or body mass index screenings. These health screenings use a person’s height and weight to calculate body fatness. Recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as a way to screen for weight categories that could lead to health problems, BMI screenings are considered ideal for indentifying obesity.
Other interesting aspects of the free event include food sampling and free product samples from the various businesses in attendance. If you have been considering a lifestyle change, this is the perfect opportunity to consult experts. With fitness and nutrition teams available for you, the fair will give you the chance to explore healthy living choices. Best of all, it’s a chance for you to have access to healthcare that can identify potential problems.
The fair will be held at Ohio Pools and Spas on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from noon until 6 p.m. You are encouraged to bring your family from Canton, Ohio and your neighbors from Massillon, Ohio.
