Calling all residents of Jackson Township, Ohio!  Mark your calendar for October 20, 2012.  Seriously.  We’ll wait…  Oh, you want to know why.  Well, let’s cover a few basic questions first.  First, do you like pancakes?  Of course, you do.  Second, do you want to learn about maintaining and improving your health and wellness?  Once again, of course you do!  So, get your red pen and mark your calendar to join Canton, Ohio’s Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine at the Jackson Health Fair and Pancake Breakfast!  Gather up your Massillon, Ohio friends, family, and neighbors, and head over to Jackson High School for a community breakfast, free breathing tests, and other health screenings.

This marks the third year that Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine is participating in this local health and wellness event.  Two representatives from the research department will be on hand to provide visitors with pulmonary function tests, better known as PFTs.  This quick, easy, and free breathing test is performed with a handheld device.  The “test” measures both how well you take in and release air.  It won’t diagnose anything, nor is it meant to.  It merely gives you some idea about where your breathing falls on average, and they will record your results if you’d like to review them with your physician or perhaps Dr. Given.

In addition to offering PFTs, representatives Chris and Melanie will be available to talk to you about the plethora of research studies that are always in progress at Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, as well as having pamphlets you can take with you to review when you have more time.  If you hear about a study you’d like to participate in, wish to receive additional information, or are interested in scheduling an appointment at Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, they will be more than happy to take your name and contact info.

And don’t forget one of the best parts of any health fair—the swag!  Not only will you enjoy a delicious community breakfast, but you’ll also find freebies to collect from Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine, and probably many other participating organizations, as well.  This event grows with each passing year as more residents from the Jackson Township and Massillon area attend to learn about new (and tried and true) methods of maintaining and improving health and wellness.  Melanie and Chris are looking forward to seeing some new faces and returning visitors, and to welcoming new patients and research study participants at the ever-growing practice of Dr. John T. Given.
