Allergy Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Connects with Canton Community

On April 4, 2012, from 8am – 3pm, you will find members of the Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine research department out of the office and in the community. They will be representing the office at the 2012 Senior Expo at the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts.

If you visit the Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine booth at the 2012 Senior Expo in Canton, you can receive a free blood pressure screening and a breathing test! Community members will also learn about the COPD and Asthma studies for which the research department is currently recruiting. This is first time that Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine has participated in Canton’s Senior Expo, and they are very excited to be part of this important event.

For the past two years, Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine has participated in the Health Fair and Pancake Breakfast at Jackson High School in Jackson Township. The office is once again represented by their research department, but these dedicated staff members are there to promote all aspects of the practice.

The first time they participated, in 2010, visitors were not quite sure what to expect from this new booth, and only a few stopped by to check it out. However, in 2011, there was large turnout at the Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine booth at the Health Fair. Many people volunteered for the breathing tests that were offered, and were grateful for the results that they could take back to their primary care physicians. As long as Jackson High School continues to host the Health Fair and Pancake Breakfast, Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine plans to continue attending. Generally, this community event is held on a Saturday in October from 8am-12pm.

Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine enjoys participating in Canton area events such as the Health Fair and Senior Expo. These special gatherings offer the opportunity for community members and potential patients to connect with a medical facility they may not have already known about. For some people, this is a very fortuitous meeting, as they may have been struggling with issues that this office is well equipped to assist them with. What a relief it is to find that you are not suffering alone, and that there are local specialists to help you with allergy, respiratory, and sleep difficulties.

In addition to being physically out in the community at special events, Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine also works with local charities. Because there are so many in need, they do not work with the same charity all of the time. As a fun way to raise funds for these local charities and non-profit organizations, several times a year, Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine holds a kind of intra-office fundraiser. Staff members can “purchase” the opportunity to wear jeans to work one day by making a donation to the selected organization! All of the proceeds from these fun “jeans days” are turned over to the charity or non-profit that is being supported.

Community members can connect with Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine virtually, too! You can “Like” them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, and visit their website at www.AllergyRespiratoryCenter.com. Smartphone users can even download the Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine app for Android and Blackberry! iPhone and iPad users, stay tuned, your app will be available soon!

With all of these various ways for the Canton area community to connect with Allergy Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, there is sure to be one that works for you! Download your app, write on their Facebook wall, or stop by at the upcoming Senior Expo or the next health fair!
